Press the star on the lid and the straw springs up. The antlers are moulded into the cap rather than stuck on, the body is clear so you can see how much is left, and the woven strap means it goes over a shoulder instead of being carried in a hand and put down somewhere.

Why kids love it

Press the star, up comes the straw.

A water bottle is not an exciting present on paper. This one gets used because the lid does something, and because a child can carry it themselves without being handed it.

Star button, pop-up straw

The star on the cap is the release. Press it and the straw lifts clear of the lid, ready to drink from; push it back down and the cap closes over it, which keeps the mouthpiece off the table and out of a schoolbag’s dust.

Clear body

You can see the water level from across a room, which is the simplest way for a parent to tell whether a child has actually drunk anything all morning — and in Dubai that matters more than it sounds.

Adjustable woven strap

A proper patterned webbing strap on a slider, not a thin cord. It goes across the body so the bottle travels with the child to the park and back instead of being left on a bench.

Take the strap off for climbing and sleeping.

Sourced from a verified maker. The shoulder strap is the part worth a word: a long loop across a child’s body is fine for walking and for the school run, but it should come off before climbing frames, slides, bunk beds, cots and car seats, where a loop can catch. The strap unclips, so it is easy to take off rather than left on by default. Cold drinks only — this is not an insulated bottle and hot liquid does not belong in a straw lid. Pull the straw out and rinse it every day: a straw that lives in a warm bag is the part that goes mouldy first, and it is the part nobody checks.
